HOUSING

The U.S. has an affordable housing crisis. As one of the nation’s most experienced investors in affordable and mixed-income housing, LISC SI partners with private and public investors to build, rehab, and preserve affordable housing in cities and rural areas across the country.

CHALLENGE

Nearly half of renters are cost-burdened and an estimated 11 million housing units are needed to address the crisis. Government subsidies can only do so much and cover so many people.

Teachers, first responders and nurses typically earn too much to qualify for housing subsidies and are increasingly unable to afford rents close to their jobs. While housing prices continue to grow, so do the labor, materials, and other costs of building, renovating, and preserving affordable housing.

OPPORTUNITY

Government subsidies alone aren’t solving the housing crisis faced by families and communities across the country.

Our work is to creatively address affordable housing needs, using all the tools at our disposal, to deliver workforce housing, mixed-income housing, and housing close to education and healthcare services.
