ABOUT US
WE INVEST TO CREATE THRIVING COMMUNITIES OF OPPORTUNITY ACROSS THE U.S.
LOCAL INITIATIVES SUPPORT CORPORATION
The Local Initiatives Support Corporation, known as LISC, is one of the US’s largest Community Development Finance Institutions (CDFI). Since 1979, LISC has been supporting projects and programs
to revitalize communities and bring greater economic opportunity to residents. Through LISC’s 35 local offices, a rural program that reaches more than 2,100 counties in 45 states, and LISC-founded affiliates and entities, we work with a vast network of community-based partners to make investments in housing, businesses, jobs, education, safety and health.
LISC STRATEGIC INVESTMENTS ("SI")
Strategic Investment (SI) is LISC’s national business group charged with leading LISC managed impact investment funds, community investment accelerators, and fund of fund investments. Our diverse leadership team is driven by the confidence that capital can be used to make a difference for people across the US. We put our 120+ years of combined experience to work determinedly to ensure our investments make sustained impact.
We work closely with LISC local offices and LISC Initiative leaders to advance LISC’s mission and deliver exceptional partner service. Our innovative investment vehicles outside LISC’s typical mandate and industry norms, allow for partners to engage with LISC in new ways. We invest to effect significant impact in communities of opportunity across the US and secure significant financial returns.
WHO IS LISC FUND MANAGEMENT LLC.?
LISC Fund Management. LLC (“LFM”) is the legal entity of which LISC is the sole member that serves as the manager of LISC Impact Funds on behalf of LISC.
The legal separation of LISC from LFM allows a number of opportunities in which LISC is involved in a given impact fund as a participant or investor and needs to segregate its role from that of the fund manager.
If you would like for information on LFM, please contact us here.
EXPANDING 40 YEARS OF IMPACT INVESTING
SI is an impact first investor with a dynamic impact framework for impact measurement and management with five community based themes:
1) Safe & Affordable Housing
2) Healthy Living & Healthcare
3) Inclusive Economic Growth
4) Sustainability
5) Improving Education
We employ eight investment strategies that are not mutually exclusive and tie into all concentration of our impact framework.
WHAT WE DO
The work of rebuilding neighborhoods—creating affordable housing, renovating a retail corridor or constructing a new school, recreation center or office building—doesn’t happen without financing. And just as with for-profit ventures, nonprofit development requires significant capital. But community development projects in disinvested neighborhoods have a much harder time attracting capital investment.
To help get funding into the places that need it most, LISC works with several investment companies—including our affiliates National Equity Fund, the New Markets Support Company and our new SBA lender immito—that bridge the gap between investors and projects in under-invested communities. We also provided initial capitalization to the Community Development Trust, the first real estate investment trust fund specializing in affordable housing.
